Over two weeks after Expresso reported that Pyramid Saimira is likely to pull out of its project with Kamal Haasan, the period movie 'Marmayogi', it seems confirmed now, that the race is on for other producers to take over the movie. Sun Pictures, which has entered the production scene with a bang with 'Kadhalil Vizhundhen', has confirmed now that they are looking at a proposal to produce the movie. Kamal Haasan’s next ambitious project after 'Dasavathaaram', 'Marmayogi', has him in the lead in a movie he is producing, acting and directing himself. Trisha, Shriya and Padmapriya play the heroines in the movie, which also has Hemamalini, Shobana and Venkatesh playing other important roles. This high star cast movie was supposed to be Pyramid’s production venture along with Raajkamal Films. However, financial troubles stemming from Kuselan’s failure (Kuselan was released by Pyramid Saimira), has impacted the company’s future production prospects. In fact, the company had recently shut down operations in North India as well. Industry sources aver that it is this crisis that has led them to reconsider producing 'Marmayogi', a big budget extravaganza. Shooting for the movie was originally announced for September. However, it has been postponed for over two months, and it is finally said that the first schedule of the movie will begin in November, and shooting will be held at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Even as an official announcement about the movie was pending, it was guessed that Ocher Studios was likely to produce the movie. However, it turned out to be false that the production house was in the race to produce the magnum opus. Sun Pictures, who’s debut venture 'Kadhalil Vizhundhen' was a smashing hit, is believed to be taking over 'Marmayogi'. Speaking to Expresso, Hansraj Saxena of Sun Network, confirmed that they were considering the offer and talks were going on. Meanwhile, officials from Pyramid Saimira, when contacted, were evasive and added that onlu Pyramid is said to be producing the movie.
